ALCAD strengthens in-house production with the purchase of a new SMD screen printing machine
15/06/2023
ALCAD is committed to in-house manufacturing with a strong economic investment that has allowed the purchase of a new SMD screen printing machine. With the acquisition of the Yamaha YCP10 Compact PCB Printing System, we are investing in a project for the future and reinforcing our firm commitment to the quality of all our products.
SMD (Surface Mount Device) on the printed circuit board consists on assembling the components from a direct soldering process on the PCB (Printed Circuit Board).
This technology has enabled the creation of much smaller and more compact electronic devices, as well as simplifying the manufacturing process. Some of the most common applications include mobile phones, laptops and medical equipment, among others, and of course they are also at the heart of our products and solutions.
"The quality of the end product will improve"
Álvaro Coca, ALCAD's Industrial Director, explains the advantages that this machine will bring: "It has been proven that 70% of quality problems in SMD are generated in the screen printing process. For this reason, ensuring the reliability of this process is key to the repeatability of the SMD process, the cornerstone of our business."
Electronic components are becoming smaller and more complex to assemble, "so it is necessary to invest in top-notch equipment that allows us to stay ahead of the curve. This acquisition will help us to offer high quality products at competitive prices," as he puts it.
As a curious fact, at ALCAD we manufacture around 300 different PCBs, but, as Álvaro himself points out, "the end products are much more, because with the same PCB you can assemble several different ones".
