ALCAD improves quality control in electronics manufacturing with the PROCAL 3D project
15/10/2026
ALCAD has implemented an advanced 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system on its Surface-Mount Device (SMD) assembly line, enhancing the accuracy, efficiency and traceability of its quality control processes.
Introduced as part of the PROCAL 3D project, this technology automates the inspection of electronic components and solder joints using machine vision and real-time data analysis. It reduces reliance on manual inspection and improves the early detection of defects.
The implementation of this system represents a significant step forward in three key areas:
-
Greater accuracy and reliability: automated inspection of components and solder joints, enabling more consistent defect detection and reducing variability compared with manual processes.
-
Improved production efficiency: optimised inspection times and fewer instances of rework and rejection, helping to make better use of manufacturing resources.
-
Enhanced traceability: data analysis tools that enable more precise quality monitoring throughout the production process.
With PROCAL 3D, ALCAD continues to modernise its industrial facilities and processes, integrating automation and digital technologies into a critical stage of electronics manufacturing.
This improvement reinforces the company's commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and product quality, supporting a more efficient, accurate and reliable manufacturing model.
