Magnetic connector for hospitals and nursing homes: innovation serving patient care
06/10/2025
In hospitals and care homes, every detail counts. Failures in nurse call systems and the resulting replacement costs are common challenges for installers and maintenance managers—and they can negatively impact the patient experience.
To tackle these issues, ALCAD has patented a new magnetic connector for handsets and wall units using a 2-wire connection. Made from high-durability materials, this solution enhances installation reliability, makes maintenance easier, and provides patients with a safer and more straightforward experience.
Fewer breakages, lower costs
The magnetic design prevents damage from accidental pulls: the connector safely detaches without harming the wall unit or handset and can be reconnected quickly and intuitively. This reduces incidents and repair time, lowering replacement costs.
Hygiene is also ensured. Handsets are IP67-rated, resistant to dust and water, and can withstand frequent cleaning with disinfectants. The wall units feature a tactile membrane, improving hygiene and simplifying maintenance in critical areas such as ICUs or operating rooms.
Flexible installation
Our wall units with magnetic connectors are fully compatible with ACCURO passive and active systems (2-wire bus).
Passive system models:
- LLC-861: 1 button (call)
- LLC-862: 2 buttons (call and presence)
- LLC-863: 3 buttons (call, presence, and code blue)
Active system models:
- LLC-961: 1 button (call)
- LLC-962: 2 buttons (call and presence)
- LLC-963: 3 buttons (call, presence, and code blue)
Handsets with magnetic connectors work with both passive and active systems:
- LLC-770: 1 button (call)
- LLC-771: 1 button (call) + 2 buttons (light control)
- LLC-772: 1 button (call) + 4 buttons (light and blind control)
Patient comfort and accessibility
Patient comfort has been a priority. Handsets include a Braille system, making them easy to use for visually impaired patients.
They are intuitive to operate: pressing the red button triggers the call, and a red LED confirms the action, giving patients reassurance.
With this launch, ALCAD reinforces its commitment to safety and patient care in hospitals and care homes by delivering reliable, hygienic, and robust solutions.
